The CEF is inviting students who will be leaving school this year to apply for a small scholarship to help them on their way. It doesn't matter if the student intends to go university, TAFE or some other sort of further learning as long as it is career related. It may be that the young person is starting an apprenticeship and needs assistance to purchase tools of their intended trade or assistance to travel to a training centre.
Scholarships are available to students between 16 and 21 years of age. While the scholarship is only $500, it is a help for the school leaver to get started.
The Cowra Education Foundation was established in 2001 and in that time has given out $46,000 to over 90 individuals help them on their journey to a career. Often the initial grant can be doubled if it is co-funded by one of the CEF partners.
The Cowra Education Foundation is part of the Country Education Foundation which is designed to help rural and regional communities support their local school-leavers - and in doing so, to invest in the future of rural and regional Australia.
They are a national not-for-profit organisation which establishes and supports local education foundations across Australia - enabling them to raise funds for local youth to help them with their transition from high school into further education, training or jobs.
The CEF partners with over 30 universities, corporate and philanthropic organizations across the country to leverage and increase the support that they provide.
The Education Foundation of Australia has just released their guide to scholarships for 2016 which includes a wide variety of scholarships which range from a $500 textbook or accommodation grant up to $50,000 per year for education and living costs.
