"Social media channels like Twitter and Instagram are now key avenues for people to seek and share information, especially among the younger demographic like the majority of those who will be attending the triple j One Night Stand," Dubbo City Council's manager marketing communications Natasha Comber said.
"This presents a great opportunity for Dubbo to share both personal and positive images that reflect our great city."
The hashtag #SmileDubbo is a platform for people to share moments that make them smile in Dubbo.
"The response to #SmileDubbo has been well received, with dozens of photos posted by residents within the first few days of use," Ms Comber said.
"It is great to see the Dubbo community embracing the use of #SmileDubbo because it has the potential to be a great platform for the community to share and show off all of the great experiences we get to enjoy."
An Instagram photo challenge - 5 Days, Many Smiles - has since been developed to encourage Dubbo residents and visitors alike to post and share images that capture the experiences in our city that make us smile. The competition begins Monday, April 8, and ends Friday, April 12, and the best photo will receive a night for two at Zoofari Lodge.
