There were some tears and smiles yesterday as a Dubbo family and their friends played some golf in the name of hope for their missing daughter and sister Amelia Hausia.

The Tonga-born girl vanished in Canberra in December 1992 at the age of 17, after leaving a relative’s home for a walk.
She would have turned 36 last Thursday.
“Today is a hope day,” her father John Hausia said.
“We hope that our little girl will turn up one day.”
It was the third “Hope for Amelia” day at the Dubbo Golf Club put on by her family.
Each participant wore a little green ribbon with an angel attached to it and carried a photograph of Amelia at the age of 17, and an age-enhanced photograph released by the Australian Federal Police missing persons earlier this year.
“We’re the first people in NSW to hold a hope day. Everyone at the missing persons unit thinks it’s a really good idea,” Mr Hausia said.
“We’ve met people from Western Australia, Darwin, who have had a missing person for 36 years, 20 years, 30 years. We’ve been missing our girl for 19 years.”
Missing Persons Week is the first week of August and aims to raise awareness.
Mr Hausia and his wife MaryAnn will travel to Melbourne during that week.
