Luke was joined by Andre Carter, Corey Williams and Liam Caton who attended tryouts for the Country under-15s, 16s and 17s teams in September.
The trials were held at Niagara Park, Gosford for all non-metropolitan players.
All four boys played extremely well and will be better for the experience.
Liam, Corey and Andre can consider themselves extremely unlucky not to have made the respective teams while Luke was thrilled to have been chosen.
He has been provided with a training program to help prepare for the Australian Jamboree.
This is a wonderful opportunity for Luke to compete against some of the best junior basketball players from Australia and New Zealand.
The boys will again have the opportunity to trial early next year to make the under-16 Country team which will compete at the Australian Championships to be held in Brisbane later in 2010.
All the boys have enjoyed playing in the local competition at Sports World on Friday afternoons.
They also participated in the Rams Talented Athletes Program where Luke and Andre are part of the Western Region Academy of Sport and will play for the Dubbo Rams representative side again next year.
The boys are thankful for the coaching and support that has been provided by all the people associated with basketball in Dubbo.
Western Region Academy of Sport trials have been held for 2009/2010 basketball academy, within the Western region Academy of Sport.
Dubbo assocIation is very proud to congratulate Andre Carter, Luke Anderson and Alex Robinson on their player selection.
The boys will attend training weekends with players from the Western Region throughout the year.
Local coach Peter Gaiter has taken on the role of assistant coach under head coach Nancy Haslop.
This is great for Dubbo Bbasketball to have someone from the association on the coaching staff.
Ben Castlehouse, an up and coming referee in the association, has also been selected as part of an official training group.
This is a great opportunity for Ben who will be mentored by National Basketball Association referee Peter Wright.
Peter regularly officiates in the NBL and also the WNBL and has a wealth of knowledge to share.
