It was a three-card, off-rifle shoot with the total score divided by the number of shooters from each club.

The pre-shoot sandwiches supplied by the Dubbo RSL Smallbore Club had the desired effect of putting the pistol club in a totally happy and relaxed mood as the smallbore team made it three wins in a row.

They finished with an average score of 570.5 to the pistol club’s 565.2.

Next year the pistol club has vowed to get revenge.

On Sunday the smallbore club held a 90m shoot in conditions that made one think it was the middle of July instead of November.

With some sunshine, some rain and very strong winds junior shooter Lucy Taylor showed the seasoned shooters how to handle the conditions and shoot to handicap, winning the handicap by a huge 11 points.

Peter Taylor’s daughter Lucy Taylor matched him off rifle with 185 188 187 = 560 H/cap 595.

Then came Terry Greer 178 184 188 = 550 H/cap 556; Peter Greer 181 186 182 = 549 TBH; Chris Davis 177 186 181 = 544 H/cap 555; Tyson Suckling 165 171 171 = 507 TBH; Jim Spittles 178 169 173 = 520 H/cap 538.

Alan Taylor and Sally Ellis spent the morning training.

Geoff Goodfellow and Larry Bartimote shot 50m, Geoff’s scores being 190 191 196 = 577 H/cap 586; Larry (prone) 194 189 185 = 568 H/cap 592.

This Sunday will be a novelty shoot.
