Selections were held yesterday with 40 juniors from across the region trialling for the 12 places.
A 13th player will be added to the squad on Friday.
Western manager Doug North said the task of narrowing down the field to the final squad was difficult, adding the batting ranks were particularly strong.
“Towards the end we were trying to fit six guys into two spots,” North said.
“The batsmen were all very good and in the end it was difficult because these guys are all good, keen cricketers.
“We are happy with the squad we have selected though.”
All of the Dubbo players selected
have first grade experience with Barnes and Armstrong coming from the
powerful RSL-Colts club while Russo
has been in fine form with the bat for Rugby.
Bock has also become a fixture in first grade with the CYMS club.
Others to be selected include Yeoval’s Jacob Harvey and Imran Qureshi from Blayney.
Qureshi’s brother Jameel is a highly-touted junior who has come through the Western ranks and last weekend took a big step in his career by making his Sydney first grade debut for Hawkesbury in their clash against Gordon.
