Weighing in at 58kg for the bout, the Dubbo College Year-12 student outclassed the local Parkes boxer in his first fight since the PCYC State Titles in Woolloomooloo more than three months ago.
PCYC sparring partner Alan Kehoe, a horse trainer and trackwork jockey, won his fight against Ray Bowd.
The 24-year-old, tipping in about the 64kg mark, gave away 10kg to his opponent but still managed to win on a points decision.
Meanwhile 17-year-old John Nolan lost on a split points decision to Guyra boxer Tim Levi in the 50kg division.
"Sam has been training non-stop so it was good for him to finally get a fight," PCYS trainer Graham Wallace said.
"He sparred at John Hallford's Fighting Arts gym for about a month and he has been looking very sharp lately."
Tom Cummins was denied a fight when his opponent didn't show however Matt O'Connor, from Lenny Bateup's NRG Boxing and Fitness, had his first go in the ring at 87kg.
"Matt went well in his first bout but lost on points to Robbie Owens who was a bit taller and had a longer reach," Wallace said.
This weekend Wallace plans to take a group of boxers, including Thorne, to Kandos for a fight night.
Wallace said that 16-year-old Wellington sensation Dylan Perkins was also likely to make an appearance at the venue.
