While most of the swimmers on show at the Western District AIF carnival on Sunday are past the peak in terms of swimming, it did not stop them from displaying some real speed in the pool.

Clubs from Cobar, Warren, Nyngan, Condobolin, Forbes, Wellington and of course the Dubbo Ducks turned out in force with over 120 swimmers on show.
Secretary of the Dubbo Ducks swimming club Henry Wilcockson said the carnival went very well with some impressive swims, and in particular the efforts of Mark Eastburn.
"Mark Eastburn was the star performer of the carnival I thought, he swam very well and took out three events," Wilcockson said.
In an interesting aside, Eastburn's win in the 30m RSL Handicap was a family affair with the trophy named after his late father Col and presented to him by his mother.
Col Eastburn was a long time member of the Dubbo Ducks and contributed greatly to the club.
In one of the more entertaining events, the 50m open sprint Dubbo swimming instructor Guy Perce won from Stuart Harland and Mark Scullard.
Dubbo MP Dawn Fardell opened the carnival and was a major sponsor, along with the Dubbo RSL Memorial Club, Harvey Norman, KC Embroidery and JP Upholstery.
Wilcockson said the Ducks are now looking forward to the national titles, which will be held at Southport on the Gold Coast.
"The event will have particular interest for us with the national titles held in Dubbo next year," Wilcockson said.
"We will be taking a power point presentation to the titles to present at the carnival, the presentation promotes Dubbo and we also have information about the tourist attractions in Dubbo.
"We are taking 40 swimmers along and are getting really excited about the trip.
"Clubs will come from Sydney, Albury, the Gold Coast, Moree and from Victoria just to name a few, they really come from far and wide."
