The Dubbo community is rallying behind Macquarie Conser-vatorium administrator Di Pascoe who has lost her husband and young son in a tragic truck accident. John Pascoe, 43, and eight-year-old Jackson were killed on Wednesday night when a B-double trailer left the road and rolled on the Mid Western Highway, 60km north-west of Griffith. Mr Pascoe, a truck driver, was bringing a load of Angus steers back to Dubbo. Jackson, a Year 2 student at Dubbo South Public School, had gone along for the trip as he wasn't feeling well. "Swimming classes had caused an allergic reaction in Jackson's eye and we decided he could have the day off school,'' a devastated Mrs Pascoe revealed yesterday. "Jackson was class captain in term three, loved football, cricket and Holdens and dreamed of becoming a scientist. "A current under- nine State cycling champion, he won three medals at the State championships this year. "John and I had recently enjoyed a trip to Melbourne together to celebrate my birthday. John organised tickets to The Lion King as a surprise.'' Mrs Pascoe, 20-year-old son Chris and five-year-old daughter Jaime were being supported by family and friends yesterday as tributes poured in for John and Jackson. Dubbo Theatre Company president Warren Landsey described the Pascoes as a beautiful family much loved by DATS members. "When I heard about the accident on Wednesday morning I was absolutely devastated,'' he said. "Di is a wonderful woman who will sadly live with this nightmare for the rest of her life.'' Theatre company director Chris Bray said the whole family was involved in last week's Christmas pantomime. Mrs Pascoe played the piano, the children performed on stage as part of the Peter Pan chorus and Mr Pascoe worked behind the scenes helping to keep things running smoothly. "Jackson and Jaime thoroughly enjoyed themselves during the show and John couldn't stop beaming,'' Mrs Bray said. "He was so proud of the children. Di is an accomplished musician who has been part of theatre productions for years. She is much loved and well respected.'' A subdued Macquarie Conser- vatorium director Chris Harrison des-cribed the deaths of Mr Pascoe and Jackson as a great loss. "John was involved in the community and supported Di's work with disabled children, theatre and music groups, the RSL and Dubbo Cycle Club. "The conservatorium's annual Christmas concert this Sunday afternoon will be dedicated to Di, John and Jackson.'' Shocked cycle club president Michael Seaman said Mr Pascoe was a real contributor and a devoted father who "looked after his kids so well''. "Jackson was a great boy heavily involved in cycling. He participated in training on Tuesday night and would have been there again last night. "Di is the current club treasurer and has held various positions over the years. "The accident came as a bolt out of the blue for us all. We are stunned. "It all seems so real when you know the people involved.''
