The 1998 Macquarie under-18s side was coached by Greg Edwards and included players such as Gavin Bell, Scott McKinnon, Paul Beasley, Wayne Langman and Brian King, just to name a few.
Edwards described Quigley as a 'standout' in the side and said he was confident he would get his chance at a higher level.
The talented hooker, who moved to the Knights when he was 17, grew up in Warren and played most of his junior football with Warren before spending the one season with Macquarie.
The Newcastle club then signed him to a contract after watching him during his time with St Gregory's College and also in a club trial.
Quigley made his debut with the club in round 15 of the 2002 season against the Wests Tigers and has made several appearances in first grade since, mainly deputising for regular hooker Danny Buderus.
The Daily Liberal contacted the family of Quigley yesterday, however they were not able comment on the saga that has dominated headlines since the weekend.
Understandably, Quigley himself and the Knights club are also unable to comment on the matter.
Quigley, along with team-mates Dustin Cooper, Kurt Gidley, Mark Hughes, Matt Kennedy, Todd Lowrie, Blake Mueller, Kirk Reynoldson, Reegan Tanner, Dane Tilse, Daniel Tolar and Adam Woolnough, were fined following an alleged drunken rampage through Charles Sturt University following the side's trial match against the Penrith Panthers.
Tilse also had his contract with the Knights terminated.
Between them the players were fined a total of $50,000.
Quigley will no doubt be keen to make amends on the field in the upcoming National Rugby League season, as his contract with the club is set to expire at the end of this year.
