The long-time Cobar resident who also has family and friends at Dubbo and Narromine likes to know the news that affects her community.
To keep up to date with what's happening at Dubbo and in western NSW, Mrs Tomek subscribes to the Daily Liberal.
She had an extra reason to value her subscription recently when she won a Daily Liberal exclusive subscriber giveaway.
It offered the prize of a two-night accommodation package at the Broken Hill Outback Resort, valued at $500.
Mrs Tomek, who has a background in journalism and works in display advertising at the Cobar Weekly, is a big supporter of quality local journalism.
"...I put a lot of value on the source of information," she said.
"So I know you can get lots of things off Facebook or whatever, but I like that it's been verified and someone followed up a story, and that sort of thing."
Mrs Tomek described herself as "a little bit of a news junkie".
The redevelopment of Dubbo Hospital and the establishment of Macquarie Home Stay were some of the stories that were particularly relevant to her and her family, Mrs Tomek said.
As she looked forward to her trip to Broken Hill with husband David, Mrs Tomek shared her thoughts on being a subscriber.
"I want to say something about the value for me in paying for the online subscription is, I know you can get a lot of stuff for free on the internet and that sort of thing, but I personally believe it's important to still support your local newspaper, that they have a really valuable place in the community," she said.
"And that's why I do choose to actually subscribe, to show that I support the print media and I think it's important."
