Chair of the Organising Committee and charity initiative Mathew Dickerson said the dinner aims to raise funds for the Dubbo Lifeline centre, which is currently renting a property, to invest in a permanent residence.
Lifeline provides Australians experiencing a personal crisis with access to online, phone and face-to-face support and suicide prevention services, and according to Mr Dickerson, there is a great need to expand on mental health services in the city.
"If we can raise enough money for Lifeline Dubbo to buy their current building, all of the money being paid towards rent can go into proactive services for them to go out there and proactively start helping people," Mr Dickerson said.
Mr Dickerson said mental health is not given the acknowledgement it requires considering its such a huge worldwide problem, and that may be because of the stigma people still hold around mental health.
"If you look at a broken arm, you can see it. You can look at it and say this bone used to be in one piece and now it's in two pieces. When you think of mental health, you can't look at a photo of a brain and say oh they obviously have a particular mental health issue," he said.
"It's not as easy to comprehend, and because it presents itself in different ways, people can't understand it.
"And Aussie's are terrible, particularly Aussie males."
Mr Dickerson said both Phil Stack and Alan Jones were quick to offer their time and support to the cause.
Phil, a renowned Australian jazz and rock musician and founding mainstay bass guitarist of multi-platinum band Thirsty Merc will be performing in a jazz duo with Carl Dewhurst.
Alan Jones will deliver a talk regarding the situation of Lifeline in the country.
The Winter Wonderland Lifeline Dinner will be held on Friday 12 July at the new Rhino Lodge.
Tickets can be purchased from 123 Tix or buy them from Axxis in Dubbo Square.
