The teenage elephants raced each other to the pool to beat the heat, keep cool and eat the apples keeper Sheryl Cummins threw in for them.
Luk Chai and Pathi Harn were like typical brothers, trying to out-do each other with their splashing and frolicking.
“Elephants don’t have sweat glands like we do they have them above their toenails,” Ms Cummins said.
“So they go into the pool to cool off and when they get out they throw mud on themselves and a bit of dirt and that sinks down into their crevices which helps them keep cool for the rest of the day. They are teenage boys, so they love to play and wrestle in the pool.
“They’re not in any danger of overheating in the hot conditions because every yard has a pool and we bring them in and give them a hose off if they look a bit hot.”
