The right-wing party believe regional electorates like Dubbo are getting “ripped off” by the Liberal and National Party government and the Trangie Grazier has an upset victory firmly in her sights.
“Page 18 of the Auditor-General’s Report on State Finances released last Friday clearly states that over the past six years to 30 June 2018, 18.5 per cent of payments to the Restart NSW Fund have gone to country areas,” she said.
“However, Section 9 of the Restart NSW Fund Act 2011 requires the State Government to spend 30 per cent of money in the fund on rural infrastructure projects.
“Once again, the National Party and the Liberals have short-changed rural New South Wales and places like Dubbo are getting ripped off and underrepresented while Sydney gets billion dollar stadiums and infrastructure.
“According to their own figures, over the last six years, they have only spent half as much on rural infrastructure than they are supposed to.”
Mrs Quealy also believes the LNP’s response to what has been the worst drought in decades was abysmal.
“Farmers deserve better and more than short-term loans,” she said.
“The bridge between city and country has grown to the point that city decisions are poorly impacting regional communities like Dubbo. Look at the RMS fees on farmers, greyhounds ban, forced council mergers, increasing red tape on small business and key decision makers who do not understand the bush”.
“People should vote for me because we are the only party that can hold any government, no matter which colour, to account.
“With two upper house members and Philip Donato in Orange, we are not afraid to hold the government’s feet to the fire on issues affecting regional communities.”
The SFF candidate said she would campaign hard for funding for the electorate as a crossbencher.
“It’s pretty obvious that when a government loses a ‘safe’ seat that community benefits from being put back in the spotlight,” she said.
“Philip Donato has demonstrated that by securing over $300 million of funding for Orange.
“I will not have to toe the party line so I will only be accountable to the people of the Dubbo constituency and what they want, not what the city Liberal Party wants.”
