Retired soldier Clint Grose was pleased to see the turnout at the Anzac Day dawn service on Wednesday.
“The numbers here I think are on par with the 100 years, which is three years ago now,” he said.
The retired captain who returned from the Solomons in 2003 and Afghanistan in 2012 recited a poem in the service that had contemporary veterans as its subject.
As he had a catch-up with other members of the 8/9 Royal Australian Regiment Association he urged people to “have a chat to veterans if you get a chance”.
“For us it’s a special day and it’s something we cherish as Australians and as ex-service personnel,” Mr Grose said.
“I think it [Anzac Day] continues to grow strong, which is great.”
