When the RSL-Whitney Cup season began there was plenty made of Macquarie’s batting lineup.

Any side which features the likes of Jason Green, Ed Haylock, Angus Cusack, Ricky Medway, Dan Medway and Keiran Brien must be a serious contender.
But as the season has gone on the Blues have battled for consistency, both in terms of the weekly lineup and in terms of scoring runs on a regular basis.
This weekend, the side needs it’s batsmen to fire or the season is virtually over.
Macquarie sits fourth on the ladder, just two points off fourth-placed RSL-Colts.
But with third-placed RSL-Colts well-placed against CYMS and Macquarie needing to chase down 321 against South Dubbo, currently on top of the ladder, the Blues need something special with just one more round of the regular season remaining after this weekend.
Macquarie has the talent in the lineup to chase the target but the Blues have failed to pass 300 since doing it twice inside the first three rounds of the season.
In-form Souths quick Henry Railz is again expected to carry much of the load as the Hornets work to defend their total while Scott Tucker and Mitch Bower are also likely to get through plenty of overs.
Across at No. 3 Oval, Rugby is on the hunt for an outright win.
After dominating day one against Newtown, Nathan Munro’s side is right on top and an outright win would all but seal a place in the RSL-Whitney Cup finals.
After a James O’Brien-inspired attack rolled the Tigers for just 112 last week, Rugby finished the day with a 60-run lead.
With six wickets in hand and 75 overs to be played, Rugby will look to the likes of O’Brien and Nathan Munro to help pile on the runs before rolling the Tigers again.
Newtown sits in fifth and has little hope of making the finals but the bowling unit of Bailey Edmunds, Dale O’Donnell, Bart Goodman and Steve Skinner will be out to keep the lead as minimal as possible.
The final match of the round is at No. 1 Oval and CYMS has a big task ahead of it.
The Cougars produced a relatively strong effort with the ball last week, led by Ben Strachan’s mammoth spell, but a brilliant Brad Cox century saw Colts post 295.
CYMS resumes at 0/4 on Saturday with Dave McAlister (2 not out) and Brock Larance (0 not out) at the crease.
Both will be key to the chase with Larance averaging 52 this season while McAlister is coming off a century against South Dubbo last round.
Tom Coady also returns to the lineup having missed week one of the game while Thomas Nelson and Lachlan Strachan will also be keen to get among the runs.
The Colts attack will be without former NSW Country player Tim Cox but still features seamers Tom Atlee, Ben Semmler and Bede Young as well as spinners Darrel Williams, Greg Buckley and Wes Giddings.
All matches on Saturday start at 1pm.
