Data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics found the number of Dubbo children enrolled in a preschool program as at 1 July 2016 was 1233.
This was an increase from the total 1159 enrolled at that same period in 2015.
In 2016 there were 911 four-year-old children enrolled in preschool at Dubbo and 322 five-year-olds.
The data also found as at July, 1 2016, there were 528 Dubbo children enrolled in a preschool program within a long day care centre, a rise from 407 enrolled the same time the previous year.
According to Care for Kids, before subsidies the average cost of child care in Dubbo is estimated at $86.44 per day.
The site found there were 5 preschool/kindergarten vacancies for a four-year-old in Dubbo from Monday to Friday and only one vacancy for a five-year-old.
There has been a rise in the number of Australian preschoolers in 2017, with 339,243 children aged 4 or 5 years old enrolled in a preschool program in Australia, up 2.6 per cent from 2016.
The findings, from the Australian Bureau of Statistics, also found of those enrolled preschoolers 17,455 were Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, a 7.2 per cent increase from the previous year.
Earlier in February it was announced that 2,800 children across the Electorate of Parkes will benefit from a preschool funding boost.
At the time of the announcement Federal Member for Parkes Mark Coulton said $3.49 million for 2,764 local pre-schoolers in his Electorate would ensure they have access to 15 hours a week of quality early learning in the year before they started school.
