The Pilates movement therapist is one of 19 hopefuls vying to advance to the Land Showgirl Competition at this year’s Sydney Royal Easter Show.
Miss Broughton will travel to Blayney on Saturday for the zone six final.
The 24-year-old has leapt at the opportunities arising since receiving the title in May.
“It’s been one of the most amazing experiences I’ve ever had,” she said.
“It’s given me a platform to be able to meet... people who can create change for things you’re passionate about.
“For example I’m passionate about exercise and people being fit and having able bodies, so you meet people who can help you with promoting that.”
Miss Broughton is now not only an honorary member of the Dubbo Show Society, but she’s become the co-chief steward of the cookery section.
She’s also part of the Showgirl committee, helping to organise the Tiny Tots, Teenage Showgirl and Showgirl competitions.
“It’s really rewarding and at the moment we have such a great team of young women who are really pushing and driving for more people to be involved, especially in their communities, whether they’re ladies or young men,” she said.
“But it’s just important to get people involved in our communities and I feel like with the team we have, we’re reaching out and making a difference.”
The 19 women, ambassadors for their towns, will face a 20-minute interview, luncheon and public speaking challenge.
“I think the thing to understand is for people to understand it’s more than a competition,” Miss Broughton said.
“We have this great community of young women at the moment, who are all so supportive.
“You don’t have to win to get something out of it.
“And at the end of the day you get interview experience, you get experience in public speaking and you get confidence, which is all really important for any young person.
“So I’m pretty excited to see what happens.”
There will be a Dubbo Showgirl Information Night on April 5 at the Commercial Hotel at 5.30pm and all are welcome.
