The historic village of Stuart Town, near Wellington, is gearing up for the 2018 Man from Ironbark Festival, which attracts thousands of visitors each year.

Stuart Town was formerly known as ‘Ironbarks’ and was mentioned in Banjo Paterson's poem ‘The Man from Ironbark’.
The president of the Stuart Town Advancement Association Inc, Marcus Hanney, said on Monday the festival committee was hard at work with preparations for the event on Easter Saturday.
There is plenty planned, including the ‘Canberra Dragon Dance’ Chinese Dragon & Lions group, which will lead a street parade and also perform. Poets will perform all day in homage to Banjo Paterson. There will be over 100 market stalls, food stores, fun family activities and an outdoor concert.
Mr Hanney said: “‘Flowing beards are all the go way up in Ironbark’ so it says in the poem, so fittingly there will be a Man from Ironbark Beard competition.
“We really do hope to see families come along to what promises to be a great day. We look forward to seeing everyone as this year promises to be the biggest and best Man from Ironbark Festival.”
