Dubbo’s Emma Corcoran, now based at Wollongong, was on the scoresheet while Orange duo Rachel Divall, who stepped up as NSW captain in the match, and Chloe Barrett also starred.
Divall lead from the front, scoring two goals, one in either half, as NSW proved far too dominant for the Sunshine state.
Her first goal game in the 17th minute of the first half from a penalty corner, and the second in the 36th minute of the second half – capping a period where NSW scored four times in six minutes, including two goals in a minute.
Corcoran, a star throughout her junior years at Dubbo, also scored for NSW, sending one into the back of the net in the 26th minute of the second half.
Bathurst’s Sarah Watterson also took to the field for NSW.
NSW played their second game overnight against Victoria, and play tournament favourites WA on Wednesday morning before taking on the ACT that night.
The finals will be played on Thursday.
Prior to the tournament, Barret stated her side went in with high hopes.
“There’s definitely always a high expectation for NSW to come away with a medal, particularly indoor.
“Indoor I would say is very strong in our state, and we like to replicate that at national level against the other states.”
She added the fact so many players were from the western region was a bonus.
“It definitely makes it very easy to gel, not just as a team, but as friends,” she said.
