Mr Samaratunga has plans to study medicine.
Of the 18 students from Macquarie Anglican Grammar School who sat the Higher School Certificate, three students received band sixes and two had ATARs about 90.
Headmaster Craig Mansour said he was proud of all the Year 12 students and the consistency of the excellent results over the years.
“These results are a clear indication of the strong preparation our students undertook not just in their HSC year, but in the 13 years of schooling leading up to these final exams,” Mr Mansour said.
“The achievements are also a broader reflection of the academic excellence that Macquarie strives to achieve in all areas of our teaching and learning.”
Shray Sinha, who plans to study Biomedical Engineering, had two of the highest bands in the HSC. He received a band six in Mathematics and an E4 in Mathematics Extension 1.
Mr Sinha had the second highest ATAR at Macquarie at 90.5.
Renee Koenig also received incredible results.
She hit the highest band in Mathematics General 2 and Personal Development, Health and Physical Education. Her ATAR was 85.95.
Ms Koenig plans to go into education.
“We wish the class of 2017 all the best in their future endeavours and we are confident that they will continue to be leaders in their communities and great ambassadors for Macquarie,” Mr Mansour said.
“To our students may I say: Be generous, you are blessed to live in an incredible nation, which gives us all so much. Live a great life and give.”
