The 800m Open Handicap sprint event shapes as the best of the day’s seven races and attracted 13 nominations.
While it may not be a full field, it is a quality one with Pat Farrell’s former Wellington Boot winner Alart headlining it while Dubbo trainer Peter Nestor has put forward Danish Lace and Cowra star sprinter Zahron was nominated by Andrew Molloy.
Zarhron is something of a country feature specialist, having won three straight Cowra Japan Cups while he’s also won the Aspros Cup at Bathurst.
Alart won the Wellington Boot back in 2013 and has gone on to contest Group-listed races as recently as March, however, he hasn’t tasted success since October of 2015.
The benchmark 65 Handicap (1100m) also attracted some strong nominations while a huge 29 names were put forward for the Maiden Plate (1100m).
Fields will be confirmed by Thursday afternoon.
