He might not be playing his best golf right now but Lindsay Wilson can not wait to be a part of his first Australian Open this week.

Wilson has qualified for the major event for the first time and is set to share the fairways with the likes of world number one Jordan Spieth and Australian standout Jason Day.
The Dubbo product said the $1.25 million tournament, which starts from Thursday, is “easily the biggest” tournament he has played in up to this point.
“It’s something I’ve always wanted to do. When you’re growing up you want to play in the Australian Open so it’s a bit of a dream,” he said.

“Jordan Spieth will be there and Jason Day is coming back for it which adds to it all a bit. There will be a really good atmosphere and I’m looking forward to it massively.”
While keen to perform well, Wilson is all too aware of the calibre of golfers he will be playing against.
Also, he’s on the comeback trail after hernia surgery midway through the year and admits it has been “a slow process” to get back into the swing of things.
“I haven’t been playing a lot lately and my game’s not where I’d like it to be but I’m just going to take it all in,” he said.
“It’s not so much a physical thing, it’s more mental and just getting in the zone so playing at the Australian should be able to get me inspired.”
Making what is already guaranteed to be a memorable experience even better is the fact there will be a real family feel around the tournament for Wilson.
His uncle is vice president at the Australian Golf Club while another relation is a member there.
Wilson’s twin brother, Pat, will be caddy this week and the pair’s parents plus sister Georgia will be there to watch and support.
“I’m just going to try and go out and enjoy it,” Wilson, now based in Melbourne, said.
“I’ll have Pat on the bag so that will be good fun and hopefully I can get in a good group too.
“You can play at some events like the Northern Territory Open and it feels like another game of golf but this is a real proper event.”
Wilson missed the cut at the NSW Open last week but he said there was still positives to take from that tournament while stating the long Australian course should suit his game.
The Australian Open runs from Thursday to Sunday.
