Lisa Kaye McGuiness, 29, was busted with 6.97 grams of methylamphetamine, and police also found resealable plastic bags, a small set of electronic scales and two ice ‘bongs’ in the room.

She pleaded guilty in Dubbo Local Court  to supplying a greater than indictable quantity of a prohibited drug.

On Wednesday Magistrate Paul Hayes accepted McGuiness’s plea of guilty and committed her for sentence in Dubbo District Court on February 2.

An agreed facts document tendered to the court shows on August 4, the motel owner saw a vehicle noted on the registration form going back and forward to the motel a number of times.

About 1pm he saw two men approach the room allocated to McGuiness, one of whom banged on the door and was talking to someone inside for about five minutes before the door was opened and he entered. The second man entered the room about five minutes after that.

The motel owner became concerned and called police.

When officers came and were let in they smelt something they thought indicated the smoking of drugs.

A sergeant saw a packet containing a number of resealable plastic bags.

The court document said when asked if there were any drugs in the room, the accused said there was not.

McGuiness said she was leaving and picked up her handbag, at which time a constable saw clear resealable bags and a small black case that appeared to contain electronic scales.

Police found a plastic resealable bag containing a white crystal-like substance in her handbag and she was arrested for drug possession.

During a room search police found three large strips of foil on the sink that had white powdery residue on them and black scorch marks on their underside, and also one ice ‘bong’ on the sink.

Police found a small set of electronic scales and another ice ‘bong’ on the fridge.

Interviewed at the police station, McGuiness said everything in the room belonged to her.

She said she was going to sell the drug and that she had not sold any that day.

She acknowledged the presence of the scales and empty bags in the room and said she brought them to the room and they were for supplying methylamphetamine.
