They have their sights set on the semi-finals for the new season and with their star batsman Jordan Moran and a host of young talent at their disposal, they are a strong chance.
Moran will be looking to back up a season where he played for Australian Country and was named Dubbo’s Representative Cricketer and Male Cricketer of the Year.
The club will have to deal without Chris Russo, who has moved on, while Jacob Bruce and Strath Munro have both picked up back injuries and will miss the start of the season.
In a boost Ben Patterson has returned to the club and will add strength to the bowling ranks.
“Like all clubs we’ve had a few personnel changes but we have a lot of young kids coming through that are looking for an opportunity,” Rugby second grade captain Glenn Shepherd said.
“We will rely on Jordan Moran after his efforts playing for Australian Country last season but we have several other rep players in the side.”
A top-three berth would be the initial goal when they step onto the pitch against CYMS on Saturday, for the first innings of a two-day season opener.
“You always want to make the semis. It’s a six-team competition and you’d like to think you could finish in the top half,” Shepherd said.
There might be some easing into the season with all the new faces but we are confident with the squad we have.”
