Wilson is one of 132 confirmed starters for the $1,500,000 Fiji International.
Three former US Masters champions will be in the field – hometown hero Vijay Singh, Argentinian Angel Cabrera and Canadian Mike Weir.
For Wilson, this is just his sixth professional event of the year and first since the Queensland PGA Championship in mid-March.
His best performance this year on the pro circuit saw him finish in a tie for 21st at the New Zealand PGA Championship.
He will take part in one of the more visually stunning events around Oceania and former Masters winner Weir said taking part in the Fiji International was part of his bucket list.
“I think it’s just a nice solid ocean-side course, it gives you lots of room with the wind because the wind is such a factor and I think they’ve done a nice job planning for strategy around conditions,” Weir said.
“That’s what a good designer does and the mark of a good golf course plays to what the conditions lay out there for you, they’ve done a nice job with that.”
After some time away from the major tournament, Wilson will be keen on some positive results while playing at Fiji.
When speaking to the Daily Liberal at the start of the year, the Dubbo star said he wanted to start making people take notice in 2017.
“I really want to give it a crack this year and I know if I just zone my game in a bit then I can give some big tournaments a shake,” he said.
Wilson tees off alongside amateur Tomasi Tuivuna and Peter Cooke at 10.40am (AEST) on Thursday.
