In Parliament this week the NSW Government announced it would invest $100 Million in new and existing sporting infrastructure across regional NSW. $100 Million Regional Sports Infrastructure Fund
The Regional Sports Infrastructure Fund, which is part of the $1.3 Billion Regional Growth Fund, will go towards improving the quality and quantity of sporting venues in the bush.
In country communities sport is central to the lives of so many people, this fund will go towards sports projects that will benefit the whole community, be encouraging participation and developing facilities that will allow the region to host major sporting events.
We are looking for projects that will not only improve the playing experience, but also the fan experience.
The fund provides a more streamlined and responsive approach to investment and I am looking forward to working with councils and sporting groups to identify projects.
So many of our sports stars were born in regional NSW, and the Dubbo electorate has raised a few sporting hero’s as well. For more information visit www.nsw.gov.au/regionalsportinfrastructure
2018 Flagship Event Fund
I am now calling on event organisers across the Dubbo electorate to apply for grants under the NSW Governments 2018 Flagship Event Fund.
Expressions of interest for this fund opened on August 8 with the fund offering successful applicants a one off annual grant of $20,000 or a triennial grant of $27,500 per year for three years.
Our communities have so many wonderful stories to tell and events not only help boost our local economies but take visitors on an incredible journey, whether it’s showcasing our fantastic producers, artists, craftspeople, sportspeople or musicians.
The NSW Government has committed $43 million over four years to attract more visitors to experience our wonderful rural and regional destinations and events.
This Fund is part of our record investment in growing tourism across the State and represents rural and regional NSW at its best with local communities coming together to stage events, which are often a great reflection of the region’s unique character and culture.
Expressions of Interest for the 2018 Flagship Event Fund are open until COB Friday, September 1, 2017 and applicants whose expressions of interest sufficiently meet the criteria will be invited to submit a full application in October. For further information visit www.destinationnsw.com.au/rfep
