A combined team of students from Mendooran, Gulargambone and Trangie (MGT) have gone agonisingly close to winning an under 16s Small Schools final at Dubbo.

Some of the best school-aged rugby league talent was on display at Caltex Park on Wednesday and MGT were well in the hunt in their match.
Playing against Sacred Heart Central School from Cootamundra, MGT went within four points of getting the win.
In other games Warilla High School beat St Joseph’s College, Banora Point 30-6 in the Under 15s Country Cup final, while in the Open Country Cup Final St John’s College, Woodlawn, accounted for Figtree High School 50-6.
It was closer in the Under 13s Country Cup with Kiama High School getting the better of St Joseph’s Aberdeen 22-10. Junee High School beat Holy Trinity, Inverell 48-16.
Country Rugby League media and communications officer Adam Kidd said the quality of games over the day was high.
