The generous donation follows a request by members of the organisation’s Dubbo branch for part of the proceeds of the 2015 sale of their rooms in Wingewarra Street to go to Macquarie Home Stay.
CWA of NSW honorary treasurer, Dubbo’s Ruth Cargill, said the state executive of the CWA of NSW approved the donation and “agreed to add an additional $120,000” so the organisation could sponsor a pod of rooms.
“The executive members recognise the importance of this project for not just Dubbo, but the whole of the western region,” the treasurer said.
“It fits with our core aims of supporting women and families, especially in rural NSW, and supporting health facilities that enhance country living.”
Macquarie Home Stay will provide an affordable accommodation for people seeking treatment at Dubbo Hospital.
Its managing director Rod Crowfoot said the donation “ensured the project would advance as soon as possible”.
“The CWA of NSW has always championed regional communities and the people who live there,” he said.
“In offering this donation to Macquarie Home Stay, CWA members have again demonstrated they know what’s important to country people and are willing to support them in any way they can.”
The donation will be presented to Mr Crowfoot by Ms Cargill and Dubbo CWA branch president Tanya Percy on Thursday.
