Jayden McKellar, 19, was found with the item during a search by police and when charged he launched into a tirade of abuse.
He faced Dubbo Local Court on Wednesday and pleaded guilty to goods in custody suspected of being stolen.
Magistrate Gary Wilson sentenced McKellar to spend three months behind bars.
The offender was wanted on outstanding warrants when police found him in Macquarie Street about 11.50pm on April 21, court facts show.
When police found the debit card and asked McKellar who it belonged to, he was unable to provide any information.
When he was charged he began yelling at police, calling an officer “dawg”.
In court after McKellar pleaded guilty to goods in custody, a larceny charge was withdrawn.
His solicitor said the offence was explained unfortunately by the use of drugs.
Mr Wilson said he accepted it was not the most significant matter but that there was continued re-offending by McKellar and there was no alternative to a prison sentence.
