The penalty count on Sunday was 10-3 in favour of Forbes and while there was a number of clear infringements from his players, Ryan stated he is frustrated by the fact his side comes off second best in the tally each week.
Ryan, who states he has won only three penalty counts in his almost four year stint as CYMS first grade coach, confessed he would like to speak to the referees or Group 11 regarding the matter.
“It’s not a loong season and it’s halfway through now and we’re all enjoying our footy,” he said.
“The only thing is we probably need to get a clarification on the penalty count. It was 10-3 again so some clarification would be good.
“It’s very frustrating at times. It was 10-3 but I won’t say too much about it.”
For Forbes, the players and fans will be keeping a keen eye on leading forwards Zac Merritt and Ben Maguire after the duo suffered knee injuries in the first half and didn’t return.
Maguire’s in particular looked serious.
“We’ve got the depth to cover it so we can’t use it as an excuse at all,” Magpies coaching coordinator Cameron Greenhalgh said of the injuries after the 44-22 loss.
“It was a bit of an attitude thing and we didn’t play at the level we should have.”
