The four-year-old, trained at Forbes by Barry Molloy, has scored eight wins and five placings from 14 career starts with victories in the Wellington Town Plate, Orange Showcase Sprint and Dalhunty Handicap at Dubbo Turf Club some of the highlights.
On Sunday, again with leading jockey Mathew Cahill onboard, Lake Lugarno will jump from barrier seven in the $35,000 Coonamble Showcase Cannonball (1100m).
The gelding’s class, and benchmark 90 rating, means he will carry a hefty weight with the 61.5kg much more than the next heaviest, Darciwood at 58.5kg.
That will be offset even more with apprentice Mikayla Weir booked to ride for Jane Clement while Don’t Tease Me will carry 58kg for Muswellbrook trainer Stephen Gleeson.
Dubbo apprentice Chris Williams will be onboard hometown hope A Magic Zariz, who has won his past tow starts for Coonamble’s Cecil Hodgson while Lunn brothers Michael and Garry saddle up Umgeni and Majaska respectively.
There is extra money on offer as well with the meeting at Coonamble one of Racing NSW’s showcase events.
A number of meetings throughout country areas were chosen to be showcase events, where the minimum prizemoney each race is risen from $20,000 to $30,000.
Sunday’s eight-race TAB meeting at Coonamble begins at 12.10pm.
