Wellington Cowboys organised the effort to support two-year-old Grace Sharp and her family from Dubbo.
Donations flowed at the weekend’s rugby league and rugby union matches.
Buckets at the grounds of both games collected $1700 for Grace.
“We had people coming to the gate to give a donation because they heard we were doing the fundraiser,” Cowboys vice-president Mark Lousick said.
On Saturday night community members gathered at the Wellington Hotel for a fundraiser, with Grace and seriously injured Dubbo CYMS player Ryan Medley to be the two beneficiaries.
Mr Lousick said club secretary Elyse Cunningham had done a “tremendous job” putting the fundraiser together.
Donations from Saturday night are still be tallied.
