The local singer-songwriter and artist has just released her second EP, ‘Cahoots’, a five-track release which explores the connection between two otherworldly characters.
But it was the process of recording alongside ARIA-nominated Brisbane producer Stuart Stuart, and the work ethic he brought to the creative process, that really inspired Heidi.
“He’s very good at challenging and pushing you to get what he needs out of you,” Heidi said.
“He was incredibly professional but relaxed … he just knows how to get the sound specific to you.”
That sound is quirky and complements the sensitive lyrics Heidi’s fans know her for. But ‘Cahoots’ signals a slight departure from the acoustic sounds of ‘Arctic OK’ to embrace more modern sounds.
“It’s more refined than the first one [EP]. There’s more synth and electronic but it’s still quirky so I’m excited for people to hear it,” Heidi said.
