headspace Dubbo and Dubbo Sexual Health Clinic partnered up for the initiative that challenges discrimination and harassment of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, questioning and asexual members of the community.
Nic Steepe of headspace said 10 coffee shops across the city used rainbow stamps on coffee cards in a mark of support.
“Everyone jumped on board and said they would be happy to support it which I think is a testament to the community support in Dubbo and surrounds,” he said.
“People of diverse sexualities and gender identities exist everywhere and we want to take a stance against discrimination in Dubbo because everyone has a right to love and be who they want regardless of their postcode.”
Dubbo Sexual Health Clinic nurse unit manager, Margie Crowley, said it is an ideal day to come together and support people who don’t meet sexual and gender norms.
“It is an opportunity to target media, local authorities and the general community to take a stance against discrimination and promote inclusion and acceptance within the community.”
