Ms Barnes is a member of the Dubbo Liberty Swing committee, that is fundraising to have one of the special swings placed at the Dubbo Regional Botanic Gardens.
Ms Barnes said she wanted to play a part in fundraising for the swing because she knew the impact it will have for disabled people.
Her son Daniel has Angelman syndrome and is confined to a wheelchair.
Ms Barnes said a Liberty Swing, which allows a person in a wheelchair to be placed securely onto the mechanised swing, allows them to participate in a fun activity.
“I can’t wait to see the kids get on that swing. I’ll be bringing my boy up,” she said.
“I know my two older boys are really looking forward to putting Daniel on the swing and having that swing with their brother. They’ve never done that before so it opens up possibilities.”
Tracy Hanna, the driving force behind the liberty swing fundraiser, said the Gofundme page was back up and running.
