It is calling for nominations from people “who have an understanding of, or a lived experience as a carer or person with disability”.
“Having a designated health consumer position on the district disability advisory committee will ensure the consumer perspective is incorporated in the planning and service delivery across our district,” the health district’s chief executive Scott McLachlan said.
He said the committee provided advice on the implementation of the health district’s Disability Inclusion Plan 2015 – 2018, and made recommendations that ensured its operating protocols reflected the needs and issues of people with disabilities and the needs of carers.
“I would like to encourage people from all backgrounds to apply, particularly if they have had a lived experience with disability or as a carer, as they will be able to bring a very valuable consumer perspective to the committee,” Mr McLachlan said.
For further information about the committee or how to apply for the position, contact Illona Dunn by calling 6378 6274 or email Illona.Dunn@health.nsw.gov.au. Applications close May 5.
