The Parkes Aviation Museum, which is housed at the airport, is assembling an impressive collection of historical aircraft to display to the people of the Central West.
These include the ex-Vietnam era Caribou transport that arrived last August and went on display in January.
In February a Heron passenger aircraft arrived, and now the latest to arrive in town is the Convair.
The Convair family of aircraft first flew in 1947 and was designed as a replacement for the venerable DC3.
The Convair was operated in Australia by Trans Australia Airlines, Airlines of NSW and Airlines of South Australia.
It is a twin-engine medium range passenger aircraft that has been, over the years, converted to freighter and fire tanker operation and is still operating.
The museum also has on display a Gulf War veteran helicopter gunship, a Jindivik remote controlled target towing drone and other aircraft and engines.
