Smart tech projects for local communities
Councils in the Parkes Electorate are urged to apply for up to $5 million in funding to support smart tech projects for local communities. The Federal Government is co-investing in projects that applied smart technology, data-driven decision making and people-focused design. I encourage any interested applicants in the Parkes Electorate to put forward technology proposals that solve some of our community problems here locally, and have the potential to be scaled up and delivered nationwide.

A wide range of projects are expected to be developed such as app-based detection of infrastructure wear and tear, traffic sensors, smart street lighting, or computer generated programs that support local services. Eligible organisations including local governments, private companies, not for profits and research organisations, can apply for grants of between $100,000 and $5 million to fund up to 50 per cent of eligible project costs. Applications are open from 17 March until 30 June 2017.

The statement outlines the strategic direction and priorities for multicultural policy in Australia. Cultural diversity has enriched and enlivened our country. From the first Australians to the latest arrivals, we are a blend of 300 different ancestries.
This statement sets out our vision for embracing diversity while emphasising our unique national identity and the importance of being an integrated and united people.
As a Government, we place the highest priority on the safety and security of all Australians. We will continue to invest in counter-terrorism, strong borders and national security.
The statement recognises that to strengthen our economy we must support the economic and social participation of our new arrivals that bring with them the skills, knowledge, and networks of a diverse workforce.
Developing skills sets for Agricultural leaders
Australia’s agricultural leaders will have the opportunity to develop their skills to strongly represent their industries thanks to the Coalition Government’s $5 million Leadership in Agricultural Industries Fund. The fund will officially open for applications on 5 April, delivering on a key Coalition election commitment which recognises the continued importance to the Australian economy of strong leadership support in the agriculture sector.
