The Bradley O’Neil-trained chaser has been to the races on three occasions for two wins and a second placing, and is likely to start a short-priced favourite despite drawing awkwardly in box five.
Myrniong Rocket started his career with a third placing from the same box over the Dubbo 318m, before reeling off back-to-back wins over 307m at Bathurst’s Kennerson Park circuit.
Both those wins came from box two but it is anticipated the Brett Lee x Cawbourne Whip dog will be able to jump well and cross to the rail early on and dominate from there.
The biggest threat to that happening could be Dana Makin, from the Rod McDonald kennels at Cowra.
A five-time winner with nine minor placings thrown in as well, Dana Makin has won twice and placed twice from four starts at Dawson Park and has drawn ideally in box one and is another with sufficient early speed to lead.
Early markets have Dana Makin a $4.00 second favourite.
Racing at Dawson Park starts at 12.20pm.
