Seniors from Dubbo, Eumungerie and even Queensland, took the opportunity to sit down, have a chat and enjoy some tasty treats, and even got to meet a lizard and children’s python.
It was the first time that Sandy Bornby, Eumungerie, had visited the Zoo as part of Seniors Week and she described the location as “absolutely beautiful.”
Miranda Rowlands and her husband traveled all the way from the Sunshine Coast, in Queensland to visit Dubbo Taronga Western Plains Zoo. Now in its 59th year, the NSW Seniors Festival is the largest festival for seniors in the Southern Hemisphere, with around 500,000 people taking part in more than 1,000 free or discounted events across the state.
The celebration of seniors has grown from a week-long program to a 10-day festival, prompting the event being renamed NSW Seniors Festival.
NSW Seniors Festival will run until 12 March.
