Thursday, March 8 was International Women's Day and to recognise the outstanding work local women do the Dubbo RSL hosted the special event with three very influential guest speakers.
Holly Taylor and Jessica Willmott trekked the Kokoda Trail in September 2016 and were aksed to share their story of the experience.
Both Holly and Jessica were humbled to be asked to speak at the International Women’s Day Dubbo RSL event.
“I knew after walking the Kokoda Trail I’d be speaking at important events, but I never thought I’d be at something like this,” Ms Taylor said.
“It’s such a privilege,” Ms Willmott added.
Meg O’Brien, manager of Western NSW breast screen, was the third guest speaker and spoke about promoting women’s health.
“International Women’s Day is a celebration of our achievements and working together to try and improve our health,” she said.
“It’s about having those conversations
International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.
This years theme was Be Bold For Change.
