On Friday, Stacy Locke, Belinda Roberts and her mother Margaret Roberts held a sausage sizzle at Dubbo railway station. The $632 raised will be donated to buy fodder for the animals, and to help those that were injured.
Margaret Roberts said while there had been donations such as hay which would help the stock now, the goal was to ensure they were also looked after in the months to come.
The response the community had to the barbecue was fantastic, Ms Roberts said. As well as buying sausage sandwiches and the baked goods, passersby were also simply donating money to the cause, she said.
Sausages were donated by Bourke Street Butchery, while AMP Employment Services donated baked goods for the ladies to sell.
Ms Roberts said her daughter had always liked to support those in need.
