A Dubbo doctor who lobbied for an integrated cancer centre at the city’s public hospital will join the “refreshed” board of the Western NSW Local Health District from 2017.

Dr Colin McClintock is one of four new appointments to the board that is farewelling chairman of the past six years, Molong GP Dr Robin Williams. Dr Williams has been appointed a director of the Western NSW Primary Health Network board.
NSW Health Minister Jillian Skinner has found a replacement for Dr Wiliams in health district board veteran Scott Griffiths PSM, from the Orange district. Mr Griffiths has served on the board for the past six years and led its finance and performance sub-committee.The incoming chairman is the former regional executive director of Western Region NSW Department of Family and Community Services,
Mr Griffiths will maintain “a firm focus on helping the organisation facilitate healthier rural people and thriving communities”. “I and indeed the entire board will work alongside the executive and staff to support the health district focus on priority areas, including Aboriginal health, chronic and complex care, maternal and child health, mental health and substance abuse, and older persons care,” he said “This is a very exciting time to make meaningful advances in rural health care and here in Western NSW Local Health District we are committed to giving our children a healthier start to life, creating better access to our health services, and delivering uncompromising care to more than 270,000 people who reside in our region.”
Newcomers to the board are Dr McClintock, a clinical nephrologist at Dubbo Hospital; Darren Ah See, chief executive officer of Wellington Aboriginal Corporation Health Services; Fiona Bennett, a certified practising accountant from Orange, and Jason Cooke, group manager regulatory strategy at Essential Energy from Bathurst. Board incumbents are Associate Professor Joseph Canalese OAM, Julie Ann Maher, Amanda O’Brien and Joan Treweeke, while Paul Mann has been reappointed. Outgoing members are Patricia Doolan PSM and Graham Parker.
