A score of 51 from 20 balls may not sound like a patient knock, but Orana Outlaws’ Mitch Bower said keeping cool was a big part of his man of the match effort on Sunday night.

Bower blasted a quickfire half century, one which included three sixes, late on in Sunday night’s Plan B Regional Bash decider at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
Bower and that the Outlaws smashed 70 runs in the final five overs against the Northern Rivers Rock on their way to finishing at 9/188 in the final.
That target proved too much to chase down, as the Rock fell 13 short.
“We knew the super over hand’t been bowled and we were looking at ‘Pilo’ (captain Nathan Pilon) with a few overs to go and we knew when we were going to take it,” Bower said.
“So we kept ticking over the singles and it all fell into place.”
Bower stood at the non-strikers end when Mat Skinner blasted three consecutive sixes and the next over, when Orana opted to take the super over, Bower helped smash 34 from it.
“With five or six overs to go we weren’t looking at making 180, we were looking at 140 or 150,” he said.
“It was just one of those things where we were patient and kept our cool and bided our time.”
Bower described the title win as “unreal”, and said the most exciting aspect was the fact the Western Zone now holds both the Regional Bash and Country Championships titles.
“Everyone knows now when they play Western Zone they’re in for a tough game,” he said.
