Students at Charles Sturt University in Dubbo have helped raise more than $120,000 for charities in 2016.

The local students, along with CSU students in Bathurst, Orange, Albury-Wodonga, Wagga Wagga and Port Macquarie have together raised an impressive fundraising total of $120,822.80.
The money raised has all been donated to charities, which included the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS), Beyond Blue, Headspace, the NSW Cancer Council, the Black Dog Institute and Hope for Himalayan Kids.
Fundraising activities ranged from the traditional raffles and cake stalls, to more creative ideas including 'nude but not too rude' calendars, a ping pong-a-thon, 'Dancing with the Stars' events, race days, football matches and charity balls.
At CSU campuses in Dubbo and Orange students raised $8031.35 in 2016.
They raised $2345 for Cerebral Palsy Alliance, $1235 for the RFDS, Ronald McDonald House $500, Cystic Fibrosis Australia $490, $220 for Movember, McGrath Foundation $2000 and $1241. was raised for the Cancer Council
Dubbo CSU student Jessica Griggs is currently in her third year studying Bachelor of Early Childhood and Primary Education. Jessica and the SRC team at the local Charles Sturt University campus help organise the many events that raise money for these charities. One of these events included the recent Orana Relay for Life.
Jessica was part of a Dubbo CSU team that recently participated in the Orana Relay for Life, where she and fellow students helped raise $620.
“It’s always good to be a part of the community,” Jess said.
“It makes you feel good knowing you’re helping other people as well as charities that do so much for people in need.”
