The 15-year-old from Dubbo Railway eclipsed Commonwealth gold medallist Cameron Curtis’ record with his victory over Cabramatta’s Ray Pearse.
Curtis was 17 when he claimed victory in 1988.
Davis was pleased with his performance.
“I’m pretty stoked,” Davis said.
After coming out on top of the open age field, he rated it his biggest win yet.
“It is probably by biggest (win) as it is opens,” Davis said. “It is a lot better than winning the junior comps.”
He led for most of the final, but had to overcome a fightback from his more experienced rival.
Pearse drew with three shots after 28 ends and had a chance to get within one when an ambitious drive from Davis didn’t pay off.
The young gun knocked three of his own bowls out of play and Pearse had the chance to knock out Davis’ remaining bowl and pick up four shots himself, but missed.
From there Davis never let his rival get close, picking up nine of the next 10 shots.
The open age title continued an impressive run of form for Davis, who claimed two Australian junior titles last month.
