The squad, largely put together by Dubbo Lions Premier League Hockey (PLH) outdoor players Andrew Murrell and Matt Waters, drew two and lost three of the five preliminary round matches before scoring a morale-boosting win over Metro South West 3 during the final day of playoffs.
The squad, largely consisting of players from the Lions, began the three-day tournament with a positive 6-all draw with the Southern Highlands and that was followed up by another strong showing in a 2-all draw with the Illawarra South Coast 3 side.
The confidence built up by those promising showing was quickly dashed when Dubbo received a 5-1 thumping at the hands of the powerful Sydney East side.
A 6-1 defeat to Bathurst followed before things got back on track in a fighting 5-4 loss to Metro South West 3.
Without a win to its name, Dubbo was left to battle it out for 11th and 12th in the playoffs. The side came up against Metro South West 3 and Dubbo produced one of its best performances of the tournament to score a 3-2 win.
Illawarra South Coast 1 was the overall winner.
