St John’s Primary School has joined hundreds of other schools across the country in Heart Foundation Jump Rope for Heart, the largest and most recognised fundraising and physical activity program for young people.
St John’s teacher and Heart Rope co-ordinator Emma Bolton said the school had raised $8000 last year for the program and hope to raise a similar amount this year.
“This cause is a very personal cause to the students and wider school community as a student here has heart problems,” she said.
Over the course of the day three groups of Kindergarten to Year 6 students partnered up to skip in various sections.
There were many skip rope styles they jumped, including Around the World and Awesome Annie.
School Principal Anthony O’Leary said like the Heart Foundation, St John’s Primary School was committed to supporting students to be more physically active.
