Berry brothers Nick and Tim, who were a part of last season’s Zone side, headline the group, which includes left-arm quick Jacob McNaught and Zone Colt player Jonte Powderly as well as Greg Garlick, Josh Carmody and Brendan Traves.
Lachlan Council President and Western Zone manager Greg Nicholls suggested spots in this year’s squad maybe limited, but said selectors will have their eyes peeled for emerging talent.
“For players like Josh [Carmondy], Brendan [Traves] and Jonte [Powderly] it’s a really good experience to play alongside and against settled Zone players like Nick and Tim,” he said.
“In saying that, if you perform you’ll be in the selectors eye. I don’t have a lot to do with the selection but I know there might a couple of spots available, definitely one.”
While Cowra make up the majority of the Lachlan side, Parkes fill the rest with Anthony Heraghty, Peter Yelland, Jacob Harvey and Smith brother Myles and Blake.
Following this Sunday’s game, Lachlan hosts Mitchell at Cowra on Sunday, October 30. Then the Zone side will be named for the NSW Country Championships in Narrabri during November.
Sunday’s game begins at 10am at Victoria Park No.1 in Dubbo.
